Description
Penyfordd Circular Walk/Bilberry Woods. Followed by lunch at Daleside
Garden Centre. This walk
begins and ends at Tinkersdale CP in Hawarden. It is a circular route
taking us firstly, through the Hawarden Estate onto Bilberry Woods, then
in and around the area of Pen-y-ffordd in Flintshire. We progress
through fields and eventually skirt the perimeter of Hawarden Golf
Course where we return to our starting point. The footpaths are
established, and there are around 9 well maintained styles. There are
also two busy roads to cross. It could be muddy in places and there is
some rough ground. After we return to the car park, there is an option
to have lunch at The Daleside Garden Centre.
There will be a coffee stop on route, but an
early start time is given with a view to an approx 1pm finish time. This
will enable us to have lunch at the Daleside Garden Centre in Hawarden
(Postcode: CH5 3HF) The garden centre is 5 minutes away by car and has
its own car park. No pre-orders for food will be necessary. |

At 2,060 feet this is the highest point in the AONB and one of my

steep, short first leg we have a long, steady pull up the valley side.
Great views across the valley. Reaching open moorland it is then a
steady ascent to the summit where, weather permitting, 360 degree views
await. An enjoyable walk off the hill on good paths to the village of
Glyndyfrdwy and then a short walk beside the A5 back to the cars. |
